Here to help you and your charity
It’s not always easy to see the wood for the trees
With the right help, the leader of an organisation can enable it to flourish and blossom.
Here’s where I can help:
Practical assistance for you
These are the 3 areas I can support you with:
This is the essential skill that allows people to follow someone while being support and been driven by the cause.
There are unique things
that a successful charity must demonstrate to maximise its effectiveness.
Every task needs a
systematic, thorough and effective process for it to succeed.
Leadership
Leading a charity can be a lonely job. I know – I’ve been there and got the T-shirt. Having someone remote from your role can help in the following ways:
-
Mentoring for you
-
Team building
-
Crisis leadership
-
Culture shifting
Charity
Every charity needs to have lots of things done in the background, many of which are time consuming and/or difficult to understand. Here is a selection:
-
Governance
-
Fundraising
-
Social enterprise
-
Reviewing your organisation
Management
The tasks within the management function can be time/resource-consuming and getting a second set of hands can help with the following:
-
Project management
-
Change management
-
Interim management
Learning from experience
Our sector is constantly going through change.
New people, new roles, new organisations, new governments, new county councils, new funders, new consortiums, new business opportunities…
As Mark Twain said, “There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope.”
I can help you to use that kaleidoscope to see a brighter future.
About me
I have worked in the voluntary sector in senior management roles for the last 17 years and in previous leadership roles within the public and private sectors.
In this time, I have been dedicated to helping the voluntary sector develop, for which I have collaborated with many people and various organisations.
Theory is important but in my experience it needs to be interwoven with practical real-life solutions. At times these can be hard to understand.
My offer is to help you and your organisation with practical services to overcome any obstacles.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, MCIOF(Cert) and of the Association of Project Management, MAPM and received the British Empire Medal for charitable work.
Testimonials
Patrick Mitchell
I first sought your advice when our organisation was at a crisis point. We were failing to meet targets, morale was low and we had no strategy to move forward. Thanks to your support, I've been able to confront challenges head-on and instigate some positive changes.
Lorraine Irving
Carl has provided excellent support and guidance for our charitable organisation. His expertise, prompt responses, and personalised assistance have been instrumental in navigating challenges and optimising our operations. From strategic planning and management strategies to operational matters, his insights have been invaluable. Highly recommended.
Karen Robson
I would wholeheartedly recommend Carl to others who want advice regarding taking the first step on the CEO pathway. As charity leaders we can consider that external professional support is a luxury in tight financial times, but for me it was a necessity and enabled me to execute an extremely difficult process as well as I could in the circumstances.
